Course Description

This one-day workshop provides participants with a foundation in the use of dynamical systems to model and manage fishery resources sustainably. Featuring lectures from two world-renowned experts, the course focuses on population dynamics, mathematical modeling, and policy implications for sustainable fisheries. Designed to bridge theory and practice, the session will also explore real-world applications with a focus on developing countries and coastal ecosystems.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of dynamical systems in ecological modeling.
  • Explore how population dynamics models are developed and validated.
  • Learn to apply modeling techniques to fisheries sustainability scenarios.
  • Gain exposure to international research efforts in sustainable resource management.

Key Topics

  • Introduction to Dynamical Systems and Their Applications
  • Mathematical Foundations of Population Dynamics
  • Case Studies in Sustainable Fisheries Management
  • Challenges in Modeling Socio-Ecological Systems

Tools & Technologies

  • Mathematical modeling (ODE-based systems)
  • Dynamical systems theory
  • Simulation analysis
  • No specific software required (theoretical focus)

Target Audience
